Serra Angel

Composición/Composition

Esta figura de Beyond Miniatures, tiene un gran paralelismo con el concepto de Serra Angel del mitico juego de cartas Magic. Es por eso que segun estuvo a la venta tenia claro que queria pintarla con el mismo estilo o concepto que la carta del juego. En las muchas ediciones del juego, se ha cambiado la ilustracion del Serra Angel, aunque la esencia es la misma. Es por ello que utilizando estas referencias podemos inspirarnos para el pintado:
This miniature from Beyond Miniatures, have a lot of parallelism eiht the concept of Serra Angel from the cards game Magic. That's why as soon as I see the miniature I have a very clear idea of how to paint it using the same concept as in the game. In different editions of the card game, the illustration for Serra Angel has changed, although the spirit is the same. So using those references we have inspired for painting this miniature:

Pintado de la base / Painting the base

Para realizar la base hemos tomado una peana de olivo que ya traia ciertas partes arrancadas, y que vamos a simular un rio de lava, tanto en la parte superior como la inferior. Para ello, simplemente imprimamos en negro la peana y la parte que queremos simular que tiene lava, la pintamos de amarillo hielo:
For the base we have taken an olive wood base that already have some imperfections that we are going to become into a lava river, in the upper and in the lower part. So, we only primer in black all the base and in the lava parts we apply ice yellow from vallejo:

Despues aplicamos naranja de Game Air de vallejo con aerografo en las partes mas exteriores de la lava. En las partes planas que no sean las piedras aplicamos efecto lava de Vallejo en una capa gruesa:
After that we apply orange from Game Air using the airbrush in the external parts of the lava. In the flat parts we apply the lava effect from vallejo in a thick layer:

El resultado final es una peana sencilla pero que nos transporta junto a un volcan en erupción:
The final result is a simple base but it lead us near to a volcano:

Pintado de la figura / Painting the miniature

La miniatura se compone de varias piezas: cabeza, brazos, alas y base. Pegamos todos los elementos menos las alas, ya que son demasiado grandes como para pintarlas montadas y tendremos que realizar un trabajo de perfilado bastante grande. Una vez montado el cuerpo aplicamos una imprimacion negra y luego una blanca y aplicamos colores base con carne usando el aerografo:
The miniature have different parts: head, arms, wings and the base. We glue all the parts but the wings, so they are too much big to paint them mounted and we should do a very hard outline work. So after the body is mounted we apply a black primer and a white primer and we apply some base colors to all using the airbrush:

Aplicamos tonos rosas a la piel, intentanto ser suaves en los tonos y transiciones para dar un aspecto femenino a la figura. Los metales de la armadura se pintan con metal real de Scale75, con metalico azul donde las luces se obtendran añadiendo medium metalico y las sombras se haran usando veladuras de azul y azul oscuro:
We apply some pinky tones to the skin, trying to be smooth so they give a female look to the miniature. The metals are painted using the scale75 true metals, a blue metallic paint where the lights are done using the metallic medium and white and for the shadows we apply some glaces of blue:

Las alas se realizaron en tonos marrones, tratando de simular las alas de aguilas. Para ello primero realizamos un degradado general del ala y luego uno particular de cada pluma. Para rematar el pintado perfilamos cada pluma utilizando tonos beige. Es un trabajo duro y muy repetitivo pero el resultado es espectacular:
The wings were painted using brown tones, trying to simulate the eagle wings. So first we make a general degree of the wing and after that we degree each feather. To finish all we outline each feather using beige tones. Is a hard work to do but the final result is very impressive:

Tambien trabajamos un pequeño efecto de luz desde el suelo a los pies del angel utilizando algo de naranja. El resultado es un pequeño osl:
We also work in a little lightning effect from the ground to the angels feet, using some orange. The final result is a little osl:

El escudo tambien es blanco con un pequeño freehand en el centro de una letra. Añadimos efectos de desgaste para darle mas realismo.
The shield is also in white tones with a little freehand letter inside. We add some weathering effects to it to give it more realism.

Finalmente trabajamos la miniatura en conjunto una vez añadidas las alas para corregir los efectos de luz entre las partes que no queden bien.
Finally we work in the whole miniature after we glue the wings to correct the light effects between the parts that doesn't mach properly.

Lo mejor / The best:
- Miniatura muy épica y bien esculpida, grande para un 54mm. Epic miniature, well sculpted and big for a 54mm.
- Belleza de los rasgos femeninos de la figura.Nice woman traits.
- Efecto miniatura volando. Nice flying effect . - Base incluida en el kit. Base included in the kit .
Lo peor / The worst:
- Algunas partes como las alas se pueden hacer muy repetitivas a la hora de pintar.Some parts like the wings could become very repetitive for painting.
- El montaje de las alas podria ser mas exacto. Wings mounting could be more accurate.
