Entre los pintores que comienzan a pintar miniaturas, siempre surge la pregunta de que colores son los más adecuados para pintar. A continuación os ofrecemos un pequeño resumen de que colores nos parecen mejores para nuestros trabajos a modo de guia para vuestras futuras compras. The beginner painters, always have the question about which colors are better for painting. In this essential tutorial, we will expain which colors we think are better for shopping.

Colores basicos/Basic Colors

Como todos ya sabréis hay unos colores principales o básicos y los demás surgen de mezclar esos colores. En este diagrama lo tenéis explicado perfectamente:

Por lo tanto solo necesitamos 5 botes de colores (incluso con 4 seria suficiente puesto que el negro es la mezcla de los otros) para poder pintar cualquier color que queramos. Usando la gama de vallejo Model serían: Blanco, amarillo, bermellón, azul medio, negro.
So we only need 5 bottles (even only 4 should be enough because black is te mix of all the others) to paint any color that we want. Using Vallejo Model color the colors will be : White, yellow, vermellon, medium blue and black.

También se puede utilizar el modelo basado en los colores magenta, cyan y amarillo (con blanco y negro). En el siguiente diagrama podéis ver como se combinan para obtener el resto de colores:

Para este modelo utilizaremos los colores de model color de vallejo: White, Black, yellow, magenta y azul verde.
For this model we will use the following colors from vallejo model color: white, black, yellow, magenta and green blue.

Kits para principiantes/Beginner Kits

Todos cuando empezamos, solemos comprar kits preparados que nos guíen en que colores utilizar. Los más utiles para mí son:
Everybody when start painting miniatures usually buy kits that guide us to which colors should we use. The most useful for me are the following:

Kit Negro de Andrea/Black kit from Andrea

Este kit como todos los Andrea viene con una guía de uso muy util. El negro es un color dificil de pintar al principio y con este kit se facilita la tarea y se puede aprender que matices se deben dar en luz y sombra para que una superficie negra quede realista. Ademas los distintos tonos de gris que nos da el kit se pueden reutilizar para pintar zonas de piedras.
This kit, as all the kits from Andrea, have a very useful guide. Black is a difficult color to paint at the begining and this kits allow us the task and we can learn about the different tones that should go into the lights and into the shadows in a black surface to get it realistic. In addition the different grey tones of the kit can be used to paint stones or in bases.

Kit Carne de Andrea/Andrea Skin Kit

Este kit contiene seis botes y permite pintar dos tipos de pieles, una mas clara y otra mas oscura. Es muy util y permite ver los diferentes colores que debemos aplicar para un resultado más claro u oscuro.
This kit contains six bottles and allows to paint two different skin tones, a lighter one and a darker one. Is very usefull and allow to see which colors we have to apply to get a light/dark result.

Kit MNM plata Scale75/Scale 75 Kit NMM silver

Este kit contiene 8 botes y permite hacer efecto metal no metal plata con dos variantes. La mitad de los botes permiten hacer un MNM mas grisaceo, mientras que los otros 4 crean un metal no metal mas azulado muy bonito. Quizas le falta al kit blanco y negro para las luces y sombras máximas pero eso tampoco es un problema.
This kit contains 8 bottles and allow you to paint two types of silver metal no metal. The first half bottles allow to paint a NMM very grayish, while the other half create a metal non metal more bluish very nice. Maybe this kit needs white and black for the last lights and shadows but that's not a problem.

Kit Tintas Andrea / Andrea Inks Set

El kit de tintas de Andrea contiene 6 botes, cada una de distinto color. La más utilizada es el rojo y azul, que mezclados crean una tinta morada muy útil para muchos efectos. Ojo que son bastante satinadas.
The Andrea Inks set contains 6 bottles, each one is a different color. The most used are the red and the blue, which mixed create a nice violet tone very useful for a lot of effects. Watch out they are very satinated.

Tintas scale75/Scale75 inks

Hace poco que han aparecido en el mercado y hay de todos los tonos. De marrón tienen varios tipos ya que se utilizan mucho para determinados trabajos. Son mucho menos satinadas que las de Andrea por lo que su acabado es mas fácil de controlar. Se venden en kits, pero podéis comprarlas también sueltas.
They are new in the market and they have all the tones available. Brown tones have different tones that are very useful for some works. They are less satinated than the Andrea so the finish is more handy. They are kits, but you can buy them separeted.

Lavados/Washes

Los lavados nos permiten aplicar pintura en recovecos de miniaturas y bases. Se diferencian de las tintas en que son mucho mas diluidas y su acabado es mate (no satinado). Las de vallejo son muy buenas porque son muy mates y el nivel de disolución es alto por lo que es posible incluso aplicarlas sin diluir si queremos un tono fuerte.
The washes allow us to paint easy the crannies of miniatures and bases. They differ from inks in the disolution and the finish is matt (not satinated). The vallejo washes are really good because they are very matt and they are very dissolved so is possible to use them without water.

Consejos/Tips

Aprender como obtener un color utilizando colores básicos es un gran ejercicio a realizar. Nos enseña como el color trabaja y que tonos tienen un color especifico. Los kits y colores preparados nos ayudan a ahorrar tiempo haciendo mezclas, y también nos permiten tener el mismo tono de un color diferentes días. Utilizar colores preparados no es malo, pero si es necesario entender que colores componen ese color. Por ejemplo el color piel tiene rojo, amarillo, blanco y un poco de azul. Al mezclar pinturas desde los tonos básicos, nos enseña esto y saberlo es muy importante para mejorar nuestras habilidades de pintura. Así que utilizar kits y colores preparados, pero entendiendo que colores los componen.
Learn how to get a color from the basic ones is a really good exercise to do. It learn you how the color works and which tones has an specific color have. The kits and ready to go colors help us to save time making mixes, and also allows to have exactly the same color different days. Using prepared colors is not bad, but is necessary to understand which colors compose a tone. For example skin tone has red, yellow and a bit of blue. Mixing paintings from the basic tones, will teach you this and this is very important to improve your painting skills. So use kits and prepared colors but understanding which colors they have.
