Composición/Composition
Esta miniatura de Aradia me gusto desde que la vi. Es sencilla pero a la vez muy expresiva y bien acabada. Como es habitual lo primero que hice fue buscar por internet referencias para ambientarla. La idea es pintarla al estilo de las ranas de Costa Rica. Hay infinidad de tipos de rana, por lo que esta miniatura es muy versatil y se encuentras multiples versiones en concursos:
Since I saw this miniature from Aradia I loved it. Is simple but very expressive and well copied. As usual I started looking for references in Internet to ambient it. The idea is paint it like the Costa Rica frogs, using bright greens and reds. There is a lot of frog and toad types, so this miniature is very versatile and there are a lot of them in the contests:
La miniatura se compone de tres partes, cuerpo, mano con baston y corona. Preparamos cada parte para imprimar y ya lo tenemos listo para pintar. Desgraciadamente mi movil se rompio esos dias y no tengo fotos de esta parte pero es sencilla y podeis ver como hacerlo en otros articulos del blog. Disculpas!
The miniature is sold in three parts, body, hand with the rod and the crown. We prepare each part to primer and we have it ready to paint. My phone breaks so I lost my photos of this step but is very easy to do and you can see the same procedure in another news of this blog. Sorry!
Pintado de la base / Painting the base
En este caso quería que la miniatura estuviera en un clima humedo y similar a una jungla. Por ello realicé una primera peana utilizando diversos elementos como hojas, flores, agua, nenufares, plantas, etc:
In this case I want to locate the miniature in a humed weather similar to a jungle. So I created a first base using some elements like leaves, flowers, water, nenuphars, plants, etc:
Pero el resultado obtenido no era bueno para mi. Miraba la peana y sentia que era demasiado "irreal" asi que decidí hacer otra base donde el agua fuera un elemento mas visible.
But the result that I achieved wasn't good for me. I look the base and I feel like it was very "unreal" so I decided to make another base, where water were more visible.
Para la nueva peana decidí utilizar una caja transparente como contendor del agua y que haria de peana. Dentro de ella realizaria un fondo de una charca o rio, con algun pez, y rellenaria con agua artificial para simular el agua del rio. Utilicé el agua de AK bicomponente.
For the new base I decided to use a transparent box as a container for the water and also will be the base. Inside I will put a pond ground and rocks for the base, with some fishes and I will fill it with artificial water to simulate the real river water. I use the AK bicomponent water.
Pintamos la base utilizando tonos verdosos, desarturados para dar un aspecto de rio. Utilizamos verde de Scale 75 y de Games Workshop mezclandolos en mojado.
We paint the base using greenish tones, desaturated to give a river look. We used green from Scale and from Games workshop, mixing them in wet.
Añadimos algun pequeño pez naranja para contrastar. Pegamos la base a la caja transparente y procedemos a rellenar con agua artificial hasta el borde.
We add some little orange fishes to contrast. We glue the base to the transparent box and we proceed to fill it using the artificial water until the edge.

A los pocos minutos se produjo una reaccion quimica entre el pegamento supergen que utilice al montar la peana, con el agua artificial que hizo que se llenara todo de pompas y se calentara bastante. Resultado final: epic fail! a la basura y todo el tiempo y dinero perdido :(
Some minutes later a chemical reaction took place between the supergen glue and the water, so a lot of bubbles appears and the water becomes very hot. Final result: Epic Fail! base to the trash and a lot of time wasted for nothing :(
El problema fue que debia haber barnizado toda la parte donde iba el agua para evitar que el agua artificial entrara. Tenerlo en cuenta si vais a usar este producto y no os pase como a mi.
The problem was that I should have to varnish all the base where the water would be to avoid mix different materials and glues. Take that in consideration in case you use artificial water.
Despues del fracaso del agua, decidí volver a la primera peana y arreglar lo que no me acababa de gustar. Algunos elementos de adorno los quite, y los tonos verdes los volví menos saturados y añadí marrones en algunos puntos para contrastar con el verde. Repase las hojas para perfilarlas y darles mas detalle. Tras un par de horas de ajustes el resultado me parecio bueno:
After the water fail, I decided to take again the first base and repair the parts that I didn't like. I put off some elements, and I desaturated some bright elements and I add more brown tones in some parts. I outline the leaves and add more detail to them. After a couple of hours I think that the result was fine:
Pintado de la figura / Painting the miniature
For the base color we have used a very saturated green from Jo Sonja brand (yellow green). Using the airbrush we give a base layer to all the miniature. The hands and the feet are painted using some magenta with blue. Using this base we will start working in give it more texture and life.
Empezamos con el esquema del color que aplicaremos a toda la figura. La parte de la boca y el pecho lo haremos mas claro, mientras que la parte trasera sera de un verde mas azulado.
We start applying the base color schema that we will apply to all the miniature. The mouth and the chest we will do it more clear, and the back will be more bluish green.
Seguimos añadiendo mas capas para la parte del pecho y la tripa añadiendo tonos cremas y marrones al verde:
We continue adding more layers to the chest and the belly adding creamy colors and a little bit of brown to the base green:
Añadimos mas detalles a la piel. Mas textura utilizando pequeños puntos y lineas. La cara vamos detallandola mas, perfilando los ojos y algunas partes de la boca utilizando tonos rosas. Pero aun nos falta mucho trabajo que hacer:
We add more details in the skin. More texture using little dots and lines. The face is more detailed, outlining the eyes and some parts of the mouth using some pink tones. But a lot of work pending yet:
We continue with the golden metals. We do it doing a degree using orange brown from vallejo and increasing lights using yellow and ice yellow and some white. For shadows adding some violet and black:

Conclusiones / Conclusions
Lo mejor / The best: - Genial miniatura, sencilla pero con muchos detalles. Great miniature, simple but full of details.
- Muy buena calidad en la copia, con apenas lineas de molde.Very good quality in the copy, without mold lines.
Lo peor / The worst: - La base la repetí tres veces hasta conseguir un efecto que me gustara, lo que me dio mucho trabajo.I had to repeat the base three times until I get happy with it, so it gives me a lot of work.
